Today is the first Sunday of Advent.
We lit one of the Advent candles this morning.
We have Christmas lights and decorations in church.
Christmas is less than 4 weeks away.
Let's take a closer look at some of these decorations.
SHEPHERD'S STAFF:
-this remind us of the shepherds of the first Christmas who were watching their sheep by night
-Jesus is the Good Shepherd Who cares for the sheep
BOX OF GOLD:
-reminds us of the wisemen who laid their treasures before Jesus
-we all need to lay our treasure before Jesus
CARPENTER'S TOOL BOX:
-Joseph, Jesus' father, was a carpenter; growing up Jesus helped Joseph
BROOM:
-Mary used a broom like this to sweep the house; Jesus sometimes helped Mary with the house work
-Jesus wants to sweep sin out of our life
FISH & NET:
-Jesus did a miracle so the disciples caught hundreds of fish one night
-reminds us we are all to be fishers of men
