Matthew 7:13-14
Needed:
Badge to gain entrance into a place; I used a ski pass or lift-ticket
I A PASS IS NEEDED TO SKI
PUT ON SKI JACKET. Ask kids where you wear a coat like this. Explain I wear it when I go skiing. Do any of you ski?
I have something hanging from the zipper pull of this jacket. POINT OUT SKI PASS. This is a lift-ticket. I need one of these before I can ski at Sierra Summit. It has a different color for every day of the week. And, it has the date stamped on it.
I had to pay $32 for this and I have to wear it on the outside of my ski jacket. The people at the ski-resort see this and let me go on the chair-lifts to the top of the mountain.
With this pass I can ski anywhere I want on the mountain and I can use the chair-lifts. Without the pass I cannot use the chair-lifts and I cannot ski.
Every once in a while I see someone who gets caught without a lift-ticket and they are asked to leave.
Sometimes, too, I see someone who gets caught with a fake pass. And, they too are asked to leave.
II A PASS IS NEEDED FOR HEAVEN
Just like people try to sneak on to the ski hill without a pass, so some people try to sneak into heaven without a pass, but that doesn't work.
People also try to sneak in to heaven with a fake pass like good works, but that doesn't work either.
To get into heaven we need a pass (HOLD UP SKI PASS).
The pass we need is faith in Jesus Christ.
Without a pass I cannot get on the ski hill (HOLD UP SKI PASS). Unless you believe in Jesus you will never get into heaven.
